Semi Truck Rollover Cab Design Defects
Unfortunately, Rollover semi truck accidents happen all too often. As result, semi & big rig truckers are seriously insured whereby the truck’s design defects and lack of crashworthiness design come to light.
Most of the serious injuries and deaths to truck drivers in rollovers come from the roof crush in the cab and/or roof pillar collapse.
When these semi trucks are pulling loaded trailers these trucks with trailers can be difficult to control. The weight and location of the cargo can raise or shift the center of gravity of the truck making difficult to control while making a sudden braking and accident avoidance maneuvers.
In fact, if the driver starts to lose control of truck during hard braking or a lane change, the weight and centrifugal forces of the trailer and cargo can add to the driver’s inability to steer or control the truck and trailer.
The weight of the loaded trailer makes braking and steering in a sudden emergency difficult. In some semi truck accidents, the company that loaded or owns the trailer may share in some of the fault and responsibility. When there is an improper loading whether it’s over loaded or failure to secure the load properly there is fault.
